It's Complicated...

motherjones:

audralewicki:

As farmers across the region, and even the country, are doing what they can to keep their crops alive, Congress is playing a game of chicken with…whom, well, I’m not sure.  The Republican-led house is refusing to move forward to pass the new version of the quinquennial Farm Bill.  The Farm Bill is a complicated beast so instead of trying to describe it and my thoughts on it, I’ll leave it to the professionals.

Farewell, Buckyballs: Consumer Agency Files Suit Against Magnetic Toys : The Two-Way : NPR

The CPSC has been trying to curb injuries with this toy since 2010, when it issued a recall of Buckyballs intended for those 14 years and younger.

Maybe it is just me but shouldn’t someone older than the age of I don’t know 10 know not to put shit that isn’t food in their face?

And if not because of reasons… then parents should consider that before giving them a pile of magnetic balls?

And really… Why would you want to eat a magnetic ball?

I know this doesn’t go here, but really. STOP EATING THINGS PEOPLE!

REVEALED: Hundreds of words to avoid using online if you don't want the government spying on you | Mail Online

I am going to post this because it is funny.

The Daily Mail might as well be Breitbart or the Blaze.

I don’t believe any of it… and really the internet is a public place you post thing for people to read, yes?

The whole “internet spying” thing… well, its just stupid. IMHO, they aren’t preventing you from saying it so it really isn’t a First Amendment concern…

Its a paranoid person concern.

I worry more about the people who are worried about the government reading things than I am the government reading things. I mean what have they posted and discussed that would give them reason to be paranoid about it.

So what? They read what I post and probably laugh a little while cursing the fact that reading mundane posts and status updates are what their life has amounted to?

That’s really terrifying.

UPDATE: Chick-Fil-A Denies Making Fake Facebook Account

A spokeswoman for Chick-Fil-A denied that the company had created fake accounts on Facebookto defend itself from criticism, contrary to reports that have circulated online.

“We have seen this and it is not true,” spokeswoman Tiffany Greenway told BuzzFeed. “Chick-Fil-A has not created a separate or a false Facebook account. We don’t know who created it.”

Two Facebook accounts have been identified that appeared to exist solely to defend Chick-Fil-A after the company’s president said he opposed the legalization of gay marriage. One has been deleted, and the other was “outed” when its profile picture turned out to be a stock photo of a random teenage girl.

Voorhees Police Officer Charged With Misusing Police Powers For Personal Reasons « CBS Philly

A Voorhees police officer was charged Monday with misusing his police powers for personal reasons, according to officials in Camden County.

Forty-four-year-old Jeffrey M. Tyther is accused of using the State Police NCIC motor vehicle database on September 9, 2011 to get personal information about a female driver he passed in Voorhees.

Authorities say while on duty in a marked police cruiser, Tyther saw the woman pass him in traffic, pulled up next to her and waved at her. Neither one of them stopped their vehicles nor did they speak to one another. However, authorities say days later, Tyther used the woman’s personal information retrieved from the database to find her and “friend” her on Facebook.

When she didn’t respond to the friend request, Tyther emailed her, identifying himself as the officer who waved at her earlier that week, authorities said.

Can we pleaseeee get the police departments under control?

We shouldn’t be hearing about cops who shoot people every week sometimes several times a week, cops who’ve raped people and creepy staking cops.

Cuz all that realllllly makes me ~NOT~ want to call you when something happens…

House Republicans To Boehner: If We Can't Repeal Obamacare, Shut Down The Government | ThinkProgress

Since much of the implementation of ObamaCare is a function of the discretionary appropriations process, and since most of the citizens we represent believe that ObamaCare should never go into effect, we urge you not to bring to the House floor in the 112th Congress any legislation that provides or allows funds to implement ObamaCare through the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Health and Human Services, or any other federal entity. We also urge you to take legislative steps necessary to immediately rescind all ObamaCare-implementation funds.
